Product details

Each shade starts as a bilao, the flat round tray Ifugao families use to winnow rice. The weavers at Sinag Workshop deepen the rim, bind it with rattan and fit a hanging frame, which takes about two days per shade.

The open weave throws a soft, patterned light across the ceiling and walls. Hang one over a dining table, or two or three over a kitchen island, with the bottom of the shade about 75 cm above the surface.

In the box:

  • Shade with fitted E27 lamp holder

  • 150 cm black cloth cord, can be shortened

  • Ceiling canopy and fixing screws

Bulb not included. Every weave varies slightly in tone and pattern.

Care and cleaning

Switch off and let the bulb cool before cleaning.

  • Dust the weave with a dry, soft brush, or a hairdryer on the cool setting.

  • Keep water and cleaning sprays away from the shade and fittings.

  • Use an LED bulb up to 9 W (60 W equivalent) so the shade stays cool.

  • Have it wired in by a licensed electrician.
